Today we started off in the garden in front of the Carrizozo Welcome Caboose. Grandpa (my Daddy) is part of the Garden Club and he wanted to show the kids what that was all about. So we all helped for a bit pulling weeds, trimming and cleaning up. Our 'reward' was a nice bagel, frappachino and coffee at the only coffee house - LaBrewJa.
Back at G & G's the kids had a game of Monopoly started the previous day with Grandma to finish. It seemed to take forever!! They were playing on the 'original' Monopoly - the one my brothers and I played on growning up. Circa 1974! Aaron ended up being the winner!!
After lunch the kids helped Grandpa make an Apricot Crisp from fresh apricots from 'Zozo!! Took them forever, but they had so much fun and learned so much! (They are gonna have it tomorrow, so I don't know how it tasted yet, sorry!)
Then we took a short trip (just a few miles) to an archeoligical dig just a few miles out of town. It is right along SR54 and if you didn't know it was there, you would never see it. Native Americans from who knows how long ago left their 'footprints' smack dab in the middle of the desert. Pretty amazing. (Picture included above.)
The weather man had forecasted only a 10% chance of rain for today. Being in the desert you know they love to see any rain come. But 10% doesn't give much hope! Well, that ol' weather man was way wrong today!! About noontime I went out to the front porch to talk to my hubby (I miss you, honey!!!!!!!) and was very excited and surprised to not only see rain, but hear thunder!!! And it rained for a couple hours!!! Even better than the rain was the huge drop in temps!!! From about 92 to 70!!!! Yipee!!!
