First thing Sunday morning we loaded up our stuff and headed south. Sadly it was Butch's last day with us in New Mexico. We headed from Espanola to Albuquerque in some rain, beautiful clouds (yes, they were beautiful!) and cool temps. Old Town in Albuquerque was our first destination. You know, we had to play tourist. We really enjoyed our walk around the Town and found some fun momentos. We also dodged a few raindrops, but not too many. They just made the colors all the more vivid!
After a quick bite to eat we took Butch to the Sunport to fly back home. Even though it's only for another 9 days, it was so hard to say goodbye. Especially since it was the 18 month anniversary of our Jordan's death. Still just doesn't seem possible that she is gone from this earth. We miss her like crazy and cry big fat tears. The promise of heaven and the peace of our Lord carries us thru.
After hugging Butch goodbye, we went back to Old Town to meet up with the rest of the Dean clan. It is such a fun place to roam around. The church on the square is just absolutely beautiful. Been there for hundreds of years. Literally. And they are still using it to worship. Didn't want to cart my camera all over the town, so I'm sorry I haven't any pictures to share.
Since Carrizozo is still almost a 3 hour car ride from Albuquerque, we headed back to Scott's house, dropped off the 'boys', (aka Mark and Dad) and headed south. We went the 'back way' and it was a beautiful, nail biting trip. We encountered lots of rain and some pretty wet roads. But the skies were ever changing and just spectacular! And of course the color of the mountains and the desert were just so vivid because they were wet!
We safely arrived at our motel (aka The Rainbow), showered and slept like babies. You know it - Life is sweet!
